Canine Protection Training and Firearms Training Hand-in-Hand

At K9-World, we are able to offer a specialized training program that teaches a dog to act as a protective companion, alongside the owner learning proper firearm handling. The goal is to enhancing personal safety by combining the dog's protection capabilities with the owner's ability to use a firearm, if necessary; this typically involves training the dog to alert to potential threats, deter aggression, and potentially engage if needed, while the owner learns safe gun handling, situational awareness, and how to effectively coordinate their actions with the dog in a self-defense scenario.

  • If  you  are  picking  up  a  handgun for  the  first  time or an advanced firearms user, we can help you advance your skills.
  • For first time shooters, we counsel you on choosing and learning about the perfect firearm for you, then guide your initial shooting experience while maintaining safety as a priority.

  • Examples of training include; fine tune the basics of stance, grip, and sight picture/alignment, understand how to avoid conflict and maintain awareness of your surroundings, practice concealed carry techniques and determine your best concealed carry set-up, or build a home protection plan. Instruction can be on any topic that the student feels they need work on. 

  • Many different option and levels to suit your needs - laser and CO2 simulators to evaluate performance and build your drills to live fire practice at local ranges to fine tune speed and accuracy.

Canine Protection Training Begins with choosing and evaluating a dog to fit your lifestyle and includes training in obedience, foundation and connection, bite work, and scenario-based exercises.
Canine prortection training and firearms handling can be taught in conjunction or individually. All training is one-to-one with your instructor, Eric Salas. We do not offer general group lessons. Only one-on-one sessions for individuals or private groups.

If you fly in to visit us, you will use the Omaha, Nebraska International Airport (OMA)

Your stay at The International K9 Academy

At the International K9 Academy, we have a full kitchen and bathroom facilities for you during your time here. You can stay nearby or park your RV on our property,
Willow Lake Recreation Area is just a few miles down the street and has full electric and water hook ups for your RV or you can stay on our property with 110V hookup.
We partner with local AirBnbs to make your stay even more comfortable. If you're interested in an AirBnB in the area you can use the AirBnB app or contact us and we can give you referrals. One of our favorites is Calvary Falls Event Center. They have a 3 bedroom rental available on site. Call or text Kori and let her know we sent you.
